Departure after breakfast from your villa/hotel for Montepulciano, home-town of Vino Nobile, where it will be possible to visit the Cantina del Redi, one of the oldest cellars in the world. The tour then continues through the medieval town with its attractive handicraft shops selling copper items and typical wine stores. Along a scenic route we will then drive to Pienza, the renaissance town where Pope Pius II was born. In the town you will visit the Pope’s residence and also taste the famous sheep cheese produced in the area. Lunch can be had in the typical restaurants of the town or in the nearby village of Monticchiello ( in the commune of Pienza ) on an open air terrace overlooking the peaceful countryside of the Val d’Orcia, where time seems to have stopped. The tour will then take you to Chianciano Terme where you will taste extra virgin olive oil on bread and Cinta Senese ham produced by a local farm.
